Stockholm, Sweden

And we saved the best for last! Stockholm is awesome. Wow – what a beautiful city. Everywhere we turned we saw something else even more spectacular than before.

Stockholm is actually made up of 15 Islands connected by over 50 bridges. Each island is different and unique. One has a bunch of museums. One has the business district. One has the amusement park. We chose to spend most of our time on the island that had Old Town, since that’s what we really like. Again, we only had 7 hours which was a real shame because we could have spent 7 days. We absolutely plan to come back here and spend some real time next time.

Old town was probably the coolest part of any city we’ve ever visited. Stockholm was founded in the 1200’s, and there are lots of really old buildings and streets in Old Town. It was different from Estonia because that was built more like a fortress. This felt like a movie set for an old town. It was just spectacular.

We also had the two best meals of the trip in old town. We had amazing pasta for lunch at a little Italian restaurant, and the best homemade ice cream and freshly made waffle cones for dessert. Both were out of this world good. It’s hard to say that something is the “best ice cream we’ve ever had” because we’ve both eaten a lot of really good ice cream. But this stuff was right up there.

There are over 30,000 islands in the Stockholm archipelago, and we sail right through them on the way in and out. It’s really beautiful.

In no particular order, here are pics of Stockholm.
