Today was our last day at sea. We just took it super easy today. Had breakfast, hung out at the pool, had a hot dog for lunch, hung out by the pool some more, drank a little, played some bingo, drank a little more, had pizza for dinner, walked a bit, listened to music, and … Continue reading Day at Sea 3
And we saved the best for last! Stockholm is awesome. Wow - what a beautiful city. Everywhere we turned we saw something else even more spectacular than before. Stockholm is actually made up of 15 Islands connected by over 50 bridges. Each island is different and unique. One has a bunch of museums. One has … Continue reading Stockholm, Sweden
Another great place! A beautiful city with lots of trees and water, and a lively city center. It was unfortunate that we only had 7 hours here, but we got our money's worth. We talk a lot about a "vibe" of a city, and we both really liked the vibe of Helsinki. There were lots … Continue reading Helsinki, Finland
Note: Pictures and videos are now loaded and updated! All I can say is - holy cow! This place is awesome! We had a long two days of solid tours visiting all the hotspots of St. Petersburg. We started each day at 7 AM and went for about 9 hours each day. We were in … Continue reading St. Petersburg, Russia
Wow. What a cool place! Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and the old town is preserved amazingly well. There are lots of restaurants and shops in the old buildings, as well as a big, cobblestone wall and some towers used for defense of the city in the 1400's. There's a church from the 1200's … Continue reading Tallinn, Estonia
Yesterday was spent at sea and we pretty much just relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. We woke up late, had some breakfast, sat out by the pool and had a mediocre cheeseburger for lunch, and just took it easy. We decided to go to the art auction in the afternoon for two reasons: 1. We thought … Continue reading Day at Sea 2
Yesterday we landed in the German port of Warnemunde. We had originally planned to take the 3 hour train ride to Berlin for the day, but we were pretty tired and decided to stay in port. And we are glad we did! We would have missed a really cool little town had we gone to … Continue reading Warnemunde
Yesterday was a Sea day, and it was really nice to have a break. We had walked 45 miles the previous 5 days, so we were both ready to just take it easy. We spent the day just lazing around by the pool, watching movies and soccer on the big, outdoor screen, and reading. We … Continue reading Day at Sea
We were particularly bothered by all the chain restaurants built in some really old historic buildings. TGI Friday's, Hard Rock Cafe, Burger King, McDonalds - for some reason this rubbed us both the wrong way. This picture sums it up.
Our first stop was Oslo, and we just weren't all that impressed, especially when comparing it to Copenhagen. First, we arrived on Sunday and everything was closed! There were literally no open shops. The restaurants all opened up later, but when we arrived at 10 am it looked like a ghost town. Our cruise ship … Continue reading Oslo
